The HeadStart Trust would like to support 72 families of Jongensklip Primary this festive season by distributing food hampers to these underprivileged children, low-income families and vulnerable communities. These food hampers will assist the recipients and their families with adequate food supply for the festive season. With support from current and prospective donors, we can spread a message of hope this festive season through the joy of giving. Schools are at the center of our communities and our children's lives. During the festive season, when schools close, children don't have access to the usual daily school meals providing them with [...]

The HeadStart Trust collborates with likeminded NPOs in the Overberg Region in South Africa to bring music education opportunities to rural communities.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of our lives, most notably those in poor and marginalised communities. Within a few weeks of the lockdown in South Africa, it was obvious that most piecemeal workers in poor rural areas had no food. A proportion of these are foreign nationals, who, along with many South Africans were without access to the UIF (Unemployment Insurance Fund) or other social grants, and started going hungry before our eyes. With the consent of the trustees of the HeadStart Trust we repurposed ourselves to become the bridge between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have-nots’. We tapped into [...]

A lot hasn’t made sense over the last few months, but we can agree that our version of lockdown has taken us down the Wonderland rabbit hole and to the summit of human kindness. It is said by informed commentators that our President is not always surrounded by those he has chosen himself. It is similarly no secret that many at the top of the ANC have their snouts firmly in the gravy train trough. It is patiently explained to me that this is because he [...]
A huge Thank You must go to the hundreds of donors to the The Headstart Trust. Our donations are contributing to the feeding of 10 000 people a week. To maintain our sustainability, we decided to reach out overseas by registering with GlobalGiving. We were accepted into their Accelerator crowd-funding programme, which if we meet the fundraising requirements by the end of June will mean we can become a permanent partner. Fund-raising on their platform allows overseas donors to get tax exemptions in their country (particularly the US and UK). You can find out more by clicking on the button below:
