For anyone who has a linguistic leaning, wonder for the written word or is vocal about verse, then flag the weekend of August 27-30th with happy exclamation marks & plan a country getaway to McGregor for the third annual Poetry Festival.
Over fifty poets from around South Africa are expected at this year’s festival, ranging from well known names to brand new bards. The festival offers a relaxed and intimate setting in which to appreciate this rhythmic art form in the beautiful Breede River Valley village: listen to readings, enter discussions, participle in workshops or take centre stage during the open mic sessions. You might even rub shoulders with your favourite poets as you dine at a local restaurant or contemplate a watercolour at the art gallery. Hosted once again at the magical Temenos Retreat, the McGregor Poetry Festival promises to provide a sanctuary of creativity and inspiration to language lovers.
