Among other special privileges, members of our exclusive club: “The League of Beautiful Wines”, will have the pleasure of not only being the first to grab our new wine additions, but also take advantage of a special introductory price (only available to members).
And so it is with bubbling excitement that we introduce you to our version of what we call champagne in South Africa – Méthode Cap Classique (or MCC for short).
Our 2015 The Drift Estate “Penelope” is a dry sparkling, bottle-fermented, Rosé MCC made from the free running juice of our now legendary Touriga Franca block (we are one of the only growers of Touriga Franca in the country), with a touch of free running Shiraz juice (for an exotic touch of spice).
Named after Bruce’s wife and inspired by the Greek mythology behind her name, we created an exquisite label to match this incredibly delicious bottle of bubbles – designed by Penelope herself with Andrew van der Merwe our “in-house” calligrapher. See if you can find the word ‘Love’ in the front label. Like the extraordinarily patient and dutiful wife of Odysseus, you may have to unravel some strands of the exquisite design!
Our modern day Drift Estate Penelope Jack, wife of Bruce, loves this style of wine, which is why she let him name it after her!
Our introductory Beautiful Wine League price is R330/ bottle incl VAT.
This small vintage of 600 bottles will move super quickly so you can count yourself fortunate to have first option at an allocation! Be quick to call or email Michaela Van Der Straaten – 079 522 0597.
To those not yet members of the Beautiful League, our sparkling Rosé wine will be made available for general sale (if there are stocks) after the 22nd of April. The price will be R380 per bottle (including VAT).
