A Century of Pinotage: Raising a Glass to Bruce Jack’s Award-Winning Legacy
This month, we have something truly special and authentically South African to celebrate. 2025 marks 100 years of Pinotage and on 11 October we celebrate South Africa’s very own grape variety. Born from innovation and nurtured by generations of winemakers, Pinotage has grown into a symbol of who we are: bold, creative, tenacious and unmistakably South African.
In this milestone year, Bruce has been named among the Top 100 Master Winemakers in the World by The Drinks Business — for the second time in three years! It’s an extraordinary honour that celebrates not just Bruce’s vision, but the hard work and passion of the entire Bruce Jack team.
Even more exciting, is that fact that our Bruce Jack Heritage Flag of Truce Pinotage 2022 was crowned Best Pinotage at The Drinks Business Global Masters. It didn’t just beat other Pinotages… it was the highest-scoring red wine overall at the Autumn Tasting, standing tall among hundreds of entries from around the world. Last night it received another prestigious accolade, announced as one of the ABSA Top 10 Pinotages for 2025.
“This is a truly special moment, not just for us at Bruce Jack Wines, but for the legacy of Pinotage itself. Winning these accolades in the centenary year of the varietal is a humbling and inspiring reminder of why we do what we do. Pinotage is a grape with a storied past and an even brighter future, and we’re proud to play a role in its ongoing journey.”– Bruce Jack
From the Flag of Truce Pinotage to the richly layered Reserve Pinotage, and the characterful Lifestyle Pinotage & Malbec, Lifestyle Daily Brew and Off the Charts Pinotage, every one of our Pinotage’s tells its own story — of place, passion, and possibility.
So, as Pinotage enters its second century, we raise our glasses to a grape that is truly ours — and to the team that continues to push its boundaries.
Here’s to 100 years of Pinotage.
Here’s to Bruce Jack.
And here’s to you — our wine adventurers — for being part of this incredible journey.
