For the first time in history the Concours Mondial du Sauvignon was held outside Europe. 50 international judges gathered in Franschhoek from 14-16 March 2023 to taste 1210 Sauvignon Blanc wines from around the world. The results were announced this afternoon at Prowein 2023.
This year South Africa has emerged as a major Sauvignon Blanc producer, achieving 56 medals (26 gold and 30 silver), along with one Trophy. Our congratulations to Villiera on being awarded the Tonnellerie Sylvain trophy for their Villiera Bush Vine.
We were awarded a silver medal for The Berrio Sauvignon Blanc 2022. Ghost in the Machine Sauvignon Blanc 2022 and Thornleigh Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2022 achieved scores of 84 points and 85.8 points respectively.
