The quality of writing in Jack Journal has been acknowledged with a Special Commendation from the national Sikuvale Journalism Awards. It was given for The Tea Thief in Volume 6 by Don Pinnock. He traced the undercover operation of the British horticulturalist Robert Fortune to steal the seeds, seedlings and recipe of China’s tea production during the reign of Queen Victoria.
The Standard Bank Sikuvile Awards encourage and recognise excellent journalistic work. They are organised by the South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF) and the awards see the best of the best across various media platforms being benchmarked against their peers by a panel of top quality judges.
